Instructions

Charging your Zendure A-Series

Connect one end of the charging cable to a powered USB port. Examples of powered USB ports include those found on a computer, a plug-in wall charger, or a solar charger. We recommend using a 5V/2A (10W) charger such an iPad wall charger for maximum charging speed. Please do not charge the Zendure with a single output over 5V/3A.

Connect the other end of the cable to the Micro USB input port on your Zendure. If the power source is active, your Zendure should begin charging immediately. Your Zendure may remain connected to the power source indefinitely; there is no risk of overcharging it.

Charge status will be displayed by the status lights on your Zendure. Please refer to the table on page 3.

Using your Zendure A-Series to charge other devices

Connect one end of the included USB cable or other USB cable to the USB output port on your Zendure. Connect the other end of the USB charging cable to the charging port on your compatible device, using an appropriate adaptor if necessary.

Your Zendure will automatically begin charging most devices when connected if the current drawn is over 120mA. If charging doesn’t start on its own, press the power button briefly to begin charging.

While your Zendure is charging your device, the status lights on your Zendure will indicate the remaining charge. Please refer to the table below.

Checking your Zendure’s remaining charge

If your Zendure’s status lights are not already lit, press the power button briefly. If the lights still do not turn on, your Zendure has no charge remaining. The status lights on your Zendure will indicate your product’s remaining charge. Please refer to the table below.

Important Information Before Use

Durability

Although the Zendure A-Series battery is designed to be extremely durable, and it can be run over by a car in our tests, please do not attempt to stage your own durability trials.

Energy Efficiency and Charging Capability

For most batteries on the market, energy loss during charging reduces the effective capacity by up to 30% of the total power. That means their total energy conversion rate (TECR) is only 70%. Zendure A-Series batteries have an amazing 80% TECR.

To approximate how many times a Zendure battery can charge your device, multiply the battery's capacity by 0.8, and then divide it by the capacity of your device. This formula assumes that the device's nominal voltage is about 3.7V, is charged at 1A in a 25°C environment, and is powered off and not in use when being charged. Actual results may vary s lightly depending on whether the device is in use, output used, temperature, how much heat the device's battery generates, the condition of the device, etc.

Charge-through Function

In charge-through mode, the total maximum input is 2.1A, however, the output of the Zendure to the device is limited to 1.3A, and the input from the power source to Zendure is limited to 1.5A. Depending on the charge level of the Zendure and the device you are trying to charge, the 2.1A current is distributed between Zendure and the devices. If the Zendure is low in power (for instance only 1 to 2 LED lights), the voltage that goes out from Zendure to charge the device will be lower than 4.6V. In this situation, the device will think the power source is a low-power one, and thus the output drawn might be only 0.4A to 0.5A. As the charge level of the Zendure goes up, the voltage that it outputs will also go up to 4.8V, and the output to the device could be up to 1.3A.

Long-term Standby

Some energy will be consumed if there’s a USB connection, so please remember to unplug all USB cables for long-term standby. Please charge the external battery at least once every 6 months.

Troubleshooting

Zendure does not charge when connected to a power source

Make sure that your Zendure is connected to a compatible powered USB port as outlined in the “Charging your Zendure” section of this manual.

Check that the power source is activated. If connected to a computer, make sure the computer is turned on. If connected to a wall charger, ensure that the power outlet is active.

Your Zendure’s multi-protection system may have been engaged. Please refer to the “Multi-protection system” section of this manual.

Zendure does not charge other devices

Ensure that the device is a 5V powered device, and it draws over 120mA of current.

Zendure’s auto-charge capability may not be compatible with all devices. Press the power button to activate your Zendure.

Ensure that your Zendure is charged. Please refer to the “Charging your Zendure” section of this manual.

Your Zendure’s multi-protection system may have been engaged.

Multi-protection system

To enhance product safety and reduce the risk of permanent damage, your Zendure is equipped with a protection system that temporarily deactivates the device in a number of circumstances, including product overheating, electrical overload, short circuits and connection to an incompatible device. If your Zendure’s multi-protection system is engaged, please follow these steps to reactivate it:

  1. Disconnect all cables and devices from your Zendure.
  2. If your Zendure is wet, dry it thoroughly with a cloth. If there is moisture in the USB ports, allow the Zendure to dry thoroughly. Do not place fingers or a foreign object inside your Zendure’s ports to expedite drying.
  3. If your Zendure has been exposed to a temperature outside of its specified operating range, return it to an environment suitable for operation, taking care to avoid moisture condensation. Keep your Zendure in a suitable environment for at least one hour before attempting to reset the device.
  4. Press the power button to reactivate your Zendure. The status lights should turn on at this time. If the status lights do not turn on, try to charge the Zendure with a wall charger.
